While many people have the impression that the African continent is hot and dry, in reality the landscape is as varied as anywhere on Earth. During the time of year this photo was taken, the waterhole was filled to the brim and surrounded by greenery.
The area was teeming with life, including birds which followed the elephants hoping to catch the flying insects they disturbed.
