The Qatar GP is the 3rd of 4 middle eastern races in 2024. The track is located about 25 minutes by car from the centre of Doha or 12 minutes from Lusail. Both areas are home to an array of high quality hotels, a legacy from the 2022 World Cup which was held in Qatar. I loved my stay at the Mondrian hotel. This stylish property is located on the highway about 13 minutes from the track and next to the Lagoona Mall.

There is little in the way of public transport though, so shuttle buses, taxis and rental cars are the preferred transport options.

KYM'S TIP

tyre mark

The 2023 Qatar GP was incredibly hot resulting in drivers nearly passing out in the car. In 2024, the race will be held 6 weeks later so fans should be a lot more comfortable.

The track itself is situated in a remote location, so there’s not much happening outside of the track and unlike some of the other F1 tracks, it’s near impossible to get close to the paddock swipe gates, so there is very little access to the drivers at this event unless you have Paddock Club tickets.

The paddock and pit building were new in 2023. The digital signage on the second level windows of the team hospitality suites is impressive at night at this Keep in mind that there are limited grandstands away from the front straight, so plan accordingly if you want to have a good view of the action.

How to Meet F1 Drivers

Like Bahrain, the Doha Grand Prix in Qatar sees far fewer spectators. In fact, in the paddock, there’s quite a relaxed atmosphere that sees F1 drivers feeling less pressured by their fans. This is a good race to grab a Paddock Club package that provides paddock access. If you can time your paddock tour/s to coincide with the start or end of a track session, you’ll have an even better chance of seeing a Formula One driver in the wild.

Like most tracks, only Paddock Club guests will get near the swipe gates but if you do wrangle it, I find that F1 drivers tend to be more relaxed at these quieter races.
