About George
George Russell hails from Kings Lynn in Britain and started his racing career in go karts in 2006.
George is accustomed to winning. He chalked up plenty of wins in go karts before turning to single seaters where he was the champion in the 2014 Complete BRDC F4 series, 2017 GP3 series and 2018 F2 series.
He joined Williams in 2019 with his first race being the Australian Grand Prix. In his 3 seasons with the British team he finished 20th (2019), 18th (2020) and 15th (2021).
George was on track to win his first race at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix when he replaced Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes. A colossal team error and a late slow puncture relegated him to 9th but his performance proved to many he was capable of handling the fastest car on the grid. He scored his first F1 podium at the rain-soaked and controversial 2021 Belgian Grand Prix.
George, affectionately referred to as "Mr. Saturday" as a result of his strong performances in qualifying, is mature beyond his years and heads up the GP Drivers’ Association.
In 2022 George joined Mercedes and partnered with 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. He won his first race the same year in Brazil.
