Kym Illman Newsletter – December 2024

What’s Kym been up to?

The 2024 F1 season has finally come to a close! After a gruelling 24 races, Kym and the team wrapped up an incredible year of hard work and unforgettable moments. The big sigh of relief on the plane was well-earned—but don’t think Kym was headed home just yet. We’ll get to that shortly!

The 2024 season has been one of Kym’s favourite F1 seasons to date, and he wants to take a moment to thank all of you—his fans—for your support. Whether you watched the videos, followed him on social media, purchased prints, or subscribed to this very newsletter, none of this would be possible without you. Kym truly appreciates being able to share this incredible journey with you.

Before we dive into what Kym’s up to now, let’s rewind and take a quick look back at the season’s final triple-header.

The madness began with a hectic but very comfortable 31-hour journey from Australia to Las Vegas which you can check out in the video below!

Kym, Jayce, and Tonya arrived a couple of days early so Kym could document the progress of the track’s construction and setup and have some fun reviewing some of the Caesars Palace restaurantsas well as enjoying a little fun in America’s playground! A highlight? My meet n greet with a crowd of passionate fans!

During the Vegas GP weekend, Kym captured one of his favourite shots of the season—Fernando Alonso in pitlane and in Abu Dhabi Fernando signed and numbered 100 copies of the image, which sold out within days! If you missed out, don’t worry—Kym still has a limited number of signed prints of other drivers available in his shop, so make sure to take a look before they’re gone!

After waving goodbye to Tonya, Kym and Jayce jetted off to Qatar for the penultimate race of the year. The cooler weather was a welcome surprise—no 40-degree heat this time around—but Kym admits they weren’t exactly prepared for jumper weather either!

From Qatar, it was just a short flight to Dubai and then a drive to Yas Island for the season finale in Abu Dhabi. But even after the final race, Kym wasn’t done with F1 just yet. Post-season testing kept him at the track for a few more hours, and it’s always one of Kym’s favourite events of the year. The vibe is relaxed, and it’s the perfect chance to photograph the rookies who might just become the sport’s future stars.

Finally, it was time to call it a wrap. Kym and Jayce packed up, said their goodbyes at the track, and headed back to Dubai to meet up with Tonya. There, Kym said farewell to Jayce as he headed for home, while Kym and Tonya boarded a flight to Kenya’s Masai Mara—one of their absolute favourite holiday destinations. After a massive year, there’s no better way to unwind than with a safari adventure.

After their time in Kenya, Kym will head back to sunny Western Australia for Christmas in Lancelin, where he plans to enjoy some well-earned downtime on the water. Safe to say, Kym isn’t one to sit still for long!

Thank you for being a part of Kym’s journey throughout 2024. Whether it’s from the racetrack or on holiday, Kym is always excited to share his experiences with you—and there’s plenty more to come. Until then, STAY PASSIONATE!
