The 2025 F1 season is about to get underway, and there are several significant driver announcements that will see it shape up to be an exciting year!

McLaren

Lando Norris – #4

Oscar Piastri – #81

McLaren has been on an upward trajectory since 2023, leading them to sign Lando Norris to an extended multi-year contract, as well as offering a multi-year extension to Australian driver, Oscar Piastri.

Ferrari

Charles Leclerc – #16

Lewis Hamilton – #44

Arguably the biggest driver shakeup in the world of F1, Lewis Hamilton has joined Ferrari. The seven-time world champ has taken the place of Carlos Sainz, who’s since moved to Williams. Hamilton’s teammate, Charles Leclerc, has signed a contract extension to stay with Ferrari for more years to come.

Red Bull

Max Verstappen – #1

Liam Lawson – #30

It’s no surprise Max Verstappen remains at Red Bull this season – his contract binds him to the team until the end of 2028, despite rumours a move to Mercedes was on the cards. Sergio Perez reached a mutual agreement with Red Bull to end his contract, which initially kept him locked into the team until 2026, with immediate effect. Liam Lawson takes Perez’s seat.

Mercedes

George Russell – #63

Andrea Kimi Antonelli – #12

George Russell will enter into his fourth season racing for Mercedes, with his contract keeping him at the team until at least the end of next season. After his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, jumped to Ferrari, Russell will be joined by F2 driver, Kimi Antonelli. Given his outstanding junior category CV, Team Principal, Toto Wolff, is confident he’s signed the next Max Verstappen.

Aston Martin

Fernando Alonso – #14

Lance Stroll – #18

Fernando Alonso has signed a deal to keep him at Aston Martin until at least the end of 2026. His teammate, Lance Stroll, will also remain at Aston Martin for the upcoming season. This is the third campaign with these drivers. Aston Martin believes this continuity will be poignant in the team’s success.

Alpine

Pierre Gasly – #10

Jack Doohan – #7

There are notable changes to the Alpine line up this year. After five years, Esteban Ocon is jumping ship to Haas, leaving his seat to be filled by reserve driver, Jack Doohan. Teammate, Pierre Gasly, has been re-signed to Alpine on a multi-year extension.

Haas

Oliver Bearman – #87

Esteban Ocon – #31

Haas said goodbye to Nico Hulkenberg who joined Kick Sauber, as well as Kevin Magnussen whose contract ended at the close of the 2024 season. Looking to fill two seats, Haas reached out to Oliver Bearman after his impressive performance at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The second seat was claimed by Esteban Ocon who made the move from Alpine.

RB

Yuki Tsunoda – #22

Isack Hadjar – #6

Yuki Tsunoda will continue to race for RB this F1 season – this will be his fifth season with the team. After Daniel Ricciardo’s sudden departure in 2024, Liam Lawson earned a promotion to Red Bull, leaving his seat open for F2 runner up, Isack Hadjar. Hadjar becomes the 19th driver promoted to F1 from the Red Bull junior program.

Williams

Alex Albon – #23

Carlos Sainz – #55

2025 will mark Alex Albon’s fourth season as a Williams driver. His contract is set to keep him with the team until at least the end of 2026. After leaving Ferrari, Carlos Sainz joins Williams, signing a multi-year deal. Sainz noted that he had copious offers for various teams, but opted for Williams after hearing James Vowles’ plans for the future of the team.

Kick Sauber

Nico Hulkenberg – #27

Gabriel Bortoleto – #5

Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu both departed Kick Sauber at the conclusion of the 2024 F1 season. In their place, Nico Hulkenberg joins the team for 2025. Rookie, Gabriel Bortoleto, also joins Hulkenberg, signing a multi-year contract with the team.
